The Journal of the American Heart Association recently published a study of 139,000 working adults, which found that job-related stress increased the chance of being hospitalized for peripheral artery disease. This retrospective study looked at 11 previous studies and found that those experiencing stress on the job had a 1.4 fold increased risk of PAD-related hospitalization.

Although a number of past studies have found that job-related stress results in an increased risk of hypertension and atherosclerotic disease, this was one of the first of it’s kind to specifically focus on job stress and PAD.
