Behavioral health conditions affect 1 in 5 Americans, 70% of whom also have a physical health condition, but less than half of those with a behavioral health condition are receiving care.

In terms of racial disparities, whites are more likely to receive treatment for behavioral disorders versus people of color and other minorities1.

Typically, behavioral health issues tend to be under-reported for older adults, despite the fact that men aged 65 and older are at the highest risk of suicide, and all adults aged 85 and older are in the second highest risk category2. In addition, 70% of older adults who committed suicide saw their primary care doctor within the last month3, while only 20% saw a mental health professional4

Value-based care organizations are seeking more effective ways to identify behavioral health conditions in their patient populations to improve outcomes, such as reducing hospital readmission rates and improving medication as well as physician visit compliance.

Biomedix Xchange LogoThe Biomedix Xchange population health management solution includes the ability to report on behavioral health issues in patient populations and track the progression of these conditions over time. PADnet Xpress is a mobile application that is available in a number of configurations, designed to identify chronic conditions like Peripheral Vascular Disease, but also has a feature that enables behavioral health data to be collected in a clinic or home environment, and be securely synced to Biomedix Xchange.
